Homework

On Thursday, you found out a little bit about code breaking during World War 2, especially about the operations at Bletchly Park.

Here are some websites with some background information:

BBC History Bletchley Park

BBC History Enigma

Bletchley Park Virtual Tour

Encryption for Kids

Here are some questions for your to think about:

*What took place at Bletchley Park?

*How were codes used during World War 2?

*Why do you think the achievements of the workers at Bletchley Park are still important now?

*Do you think code breaking is easier or harder now than it was during World War 2?

For your homework, you need to present some information about code breaking during World War 2.

You might want to make a comment on this post with your thoughts on the questions, make a poster, design a code of your own, find out about some of the famous code breakers of World War 2 or find out more about codes and code breaking through the ages.

  1. Alan Turing was a code breaker in WW2,he was a British mathematician,logician,Cryptanalyst and also a computer scientist.During world war 2 he worked for the Government code and Cypher school at Bletchley park,which was the Britain’s codebreaking centre.

  2. there was code breaking in bletchley park and i think that it is easier because we have more resources to crack the code

  3. I think it is easier because we have modern technology that can help us more than the other machines.

  4. I think that is important because those code breakers are very inspirational to us so some of us might learn to decode messages.That can help us because if we are in a war they might be able to help us by decoding the messages that are being sent to the soldiers of that country.

  5. In bletchley park there were smart people,who were decoding the messages that Germany soldiers
    were sending to each other.The Germans send messages to each other because Hitler(the German leader),wanted to send commands to the German soldiers.

    All the things that i have wrote are for my homework.

  6. 9,1,17,17,12! 9,12,25 2,14,1 24,12,22? 9,12,25 25,2,11 24,12,22,14 25,1,1,10,1,15,3?

    2=a 7=b 5=c 3=d 1=e 29=f 6=g 9=h 4=i 8=j 10=k 17=l 13=m 15=n 12=o 18=p 16=q 14=r 11=s 19=t
    22=u 20=v 25=w 28=x 24=y 30=z

    Try to work out what the secret code is but there is no pattern in the numbers so don’t try to work out what that is.By the way,this is for my homework.

  7. I found it challenging and easy to code break.✖️➕➖➗so much methods to use

    1. it was not that tricky!! it probably challenged people to use the method for division,addition,subtraction and times X + – /
      the teachers were testing us too, they were testing us if we have forgot the methods.

      1. OOPS!! Forgot capital letters sorry 😦 Mr Gontheir)
