Today’s daily challenge is…a KAHOOT QUIZ ‘CHILDREN v HOLBROOK STAFF’! How exciting!! Kahoot is an online quiz and we want to see who is going to be the champion and score the most points. The quiz will start today at 1pm and it is LIVE – so do not be late! You will need to click this link to go to the quiz https://kahoot.it/ and enter the pin which we will share on the home page of the blog at 12.55pm – so be sure to check back at 12.55pm to get the game pin! If you have access to an ipad or iphone you can download the kahoot app and play via that. We can’t wait to see who the champion will be…will it be a staff member or will it be a student???

Thursday 2nd April 2020

Your challenge today is to find a teddy bear at home and place it in one of your windows for people to see when they walk past your house. Once you have done this, send a photo of your teddy bear in the window to the Year 6 team. Let’s see how many different teddy bears we can get in our windows around Coventry and Warwickshire.

Wednesday 1st April 2020 – Be kind! Your challenge today is to do something kind for somebody at home. Can you think of some helpful tasks to help around the house?

Prepare a drink or some food?

Tidy the house?

Hoover the house?

Do the washing up?

Do the washing and ironing of clothes?

Tuesday 31st March 2020 – Create a new greeting!

Your challenge today is to work with somebody at home and create a new greeting which involves minimal contact – GO!

If you can video your greeting and send it to us that would be fantastic. Alternatively, you could write a short instruction manual explaining your new greeting.

Do you recognise these two Holbrook staff members? They are using technology to stay in touch during the COVID-19 crisis.
Miss Fitzpatrick chooses to use her phone to greet people, all this time at home as made her voice go quite squeaky too.
Mr Pahal has been super busy setting PE challenges every day but he still finds time to practise his new greeting with Milo!
Beware! Scary content! Miss Hernon has mastered her new jump and scare greeting!!
Mrs Dhillon is kick starting a new greeting… can you try this at home? Ps…Mrs Dhillon, I didn’t know you could dance!?

Monday 30th March 2020 – The Daily Challenge

Today’s challenge is art focused – can you create a poster to stick up on your window to thank the NHS for all their hard work during the COVID-19 outbreak. They are a doing a terrific job and it would be great if we can show our appreciation for looking after us.

Haleema (6G) is supporting the NHS – thank you! #StaysafeStayhome
Miss Goor has produced a superbly crafted poster using materials she found around the home, could you do the same?
Mrs Dhillon has created a masterpiece to put up in her window. I just hope Mrs Dhillon tidied away all her books from Friday’s challenge before starting today’s challenge!
Well done Mithula (6M) who has created her poster with lots of lovely and creative pictures!
Miss Woodward has made a superb poster – thank you!
Miss Cunningham spent her whole weekend designing her beautiful poster. Great job!!
Miss Hernon’s NHS poster thanks them and urging people to stay at home!
Mrs Ahmed is quite the artist…look at her amazing display thanking all the key workers and NHS staff!!

It’s Friday and our final challenge of the week! Can you collect all your books in your house and make a tall tower…without the books falling down? Send us a video or photograph of your attempt!

DO NOT FORGET TO TIDY AWAY ALL THE BOOKS ONCE YOU HAVE FINISHED!!

The Kelsall household take on the challenge and it gets so exciting that their dog comes to investigate. You’ll have to watch this video to see if there is a happy ending!
Mithula has sent in her tower of books – excellent effort! I can see lots of books written by David Walliams – great choice! Now…can you safely tidy them away in alphabetical order?
Mrs Dhillon has built a huge tower of books by her kitchen sink, I think Mrs Dhillon is hoping the books will do her washing up!
Mrs Lama has been extremely creative…can you read the word that Mrs Lama has spelt using her books at home? Could you do the same and send the photo to us?
Mrs Lee and her two gorgeous dogs spent some time building a tower together – what clever dogs they are!
Miss Hernon has done a fantastic job at building a free-standing tower.
The Matiashvili family have created a tremendous tower – well done!!
Mrs Ahmed spent 45 minutes in her loft and found an awful lot of books. She has so many atlases, no wonder she is so good at geography!
Miss Fitzpatrick stores all of her books online using a Kindle device – I think she lives in a cupboard under the stairs so doesn’t have much storage space.
Miss Cunningham and her delightful zig-zag tower!
Mr Gould secretly builds a tower of books in his house… I hope it doesn’t fall!

Today’s challenge is to send us a photo of yourself reading in a very creative place…We can’t wait to see what you reading and where you are reading it!!

The Roe family are all enjoying time outdoors in the sunshine and on their trampoline.
Mrs Kelsall and her family and still making sure they are finding time to read every day. How comfortable does this look?
Mrs McCarthy continues to work very hard at home but still finds time to enjoy the sunshine with her two beautiful dogs!
This year 2 teacher loves to read daily poems on the sofa. Mr Kular…Is that you?
Mrs Dhillon loves to read on the backseat of her car. She says that she doesn’t get much time in the back of her car because she’s always driving in the front seat.
Miss Hernon loves reading about history.
Miss Fitzpatrick is reading Calm written by the BBC radio and TV presenter Fearne Cotton.
WOW – Look at Miss Watts reading her storybook in a handstand position!
Mr Pahal and his beautiful dog Milo reading Harry Potter and The Cursed Child
Mrs Ahmed enjoying the weather whilst developing her gardening skills.
Mr Gould reading BOY GIANT by Michael Morpurgo, whilst exercising on his bike.

It’s a new day so that means it is time for a new challenge…Have you got what it takes to flip your bottle in the air…and…wait for it… get it to stand up straight?

Miss Fitzpatrick’s bottle flip
Miss Hernon’s bottle flip
Mrs Ahmed’s bottle flip

Mr Gould’s bottle flip

Tuesday’s Challenge – can you draw a face without taking your pencil off of the paper? Video yourself doing it and send it to us!!

Mrs Lama’s attempt (APPROVED 9.57am by the regulation committee: Rule 1.2 The pencil never leaves the paper)
Mrs McCarthy’s attempt
Here are 3 attempts from Miss Collins – we love the middle one! (Pending approval by the regulation committee due to rule 1.3 – no clear evidence of the pencil on the paper)
Miss Hernon’s attempt
Mrs Dhillon’s attempt
Mrs Ahmed’s attempt
Mr Gould’s attempt
