As a part of our Fragile Earth topic, we had a visitor from the Red Cross come and talk to us about people leaving their own countries for different reasons. We learnt a lot about reasons people leave their own countries and the categories they fall into. We learnt lots of new vocabulary like migrant worker, asylum seeker and internally displaced persons.
This afternoon we learnt about the different layers of the earth, and how a volcano erupts!
As these two students showed great enthusiasm in their Topic homework, they used their PowerPoint presentation, to teach the rest of the class all about volcanoes!
Today we tested our knowledge about the Tanzanian earthquake, against our classmates!
Take a look at this creative topic homework! I hope it doesn’t erupt too violently later on!
This week, we have tried to empathise with refugees by writing a diary entry. To help us, we pretended to be families and role played situations that might occur in a disaster. What were you feeling?
