The Great Holbrook Bake Off!

Standard

In year 6, we have a wealth of different talents. This cake was baked by Zara in 6H and it was amazing! Those lucky enough to try this masterpiece were blown away. Well done Zara!IMG_3023[1]

Letters from the Lighthouse

Standard

We have come to the end of our incredible topic World War 2 and have finished reading Letters from the Lighthouse. We thoroughly enjoyed reading this great book and have completed some great book reviews.

What was your favourite part of the story and why?

Hour of Code.

Hour of code

As a school we are really taking a full part in the Hour of Code week.  I am expecting that Year 6 will definitely be enthusiastic about the challenge and you can apply the skills you learned last year when you wrote your own Scratch Game, but this time you will be using a text based language called Python!

As we learned last year you don’t always manage to get your program right first time so one part of BEST you really need to do in coding is S – stick at it! Before you ask your teacher for help there is a lot you can do for yourself – the VIRTUAL STUCK STATION!

The program will give you help so use them! Also if your code is wrong the computer will give you hints so you know what you are missing!
Best of luck

The war is over!

Standard

This term, the children in year 6 have loved learning all about World War 2. As a year group we have learnt many things about the war: those involved, those affected and how it all began and much more! We were even lucky enough to go and visit the Coventry Cathedral where we learnt lots about the people in our own town. A highlight for many of us was the Peace Evening. It was so lovely to see so many children and their families come and reflect on the importance of peace in our communities.

Today marked the last day of our topic and although we will be sad to move on, there are exciting times ahead. Can you guess what our next topic might be?
