We have been reading letters from our French penpals at L’Ecole Jules Ferry in La Celle St Cloud. We have then written messages back. This time we decided to write in French!
This afternoon we invented our own questions to investigate. Will paper clips make a complete circuit instead of using wires? Will the cosmic stick light up if a human is part of the circuit? How many bulbs can you add to a circuit before all the bulbs turn off? I wonder if a variable resistor will make a bubble brighter?
This morning we have been reading and analysing a range of board game instructions to understand the kind of language that is used. We have created our own bank of verbs, nouns and useful and subordinating conjunctions that we could use in our own board game explanations tomorrow.
To help us with our English work we have invented our own jungle themed board games linked to Jumanji. What is the name of your game? What is the object of the game? How will a player win?
This afternoon we will be creating our own jungle themed board games, so this morning we have been playing some board games to help us read and understand the instructions and look at how different board games are played.
This morning we have started our new English unit linked to the picture book ‘Jumanji’ by Chris van Allsburg. The story is about a jungle themed board game where jungle creatures escape from the game. We have been playing table graffiti to generate some jungle themed vocabulary.
We have been using our word building skills to take part in a Bananagrams competition. The winner made 22 words, well done!
